Considering opening a taproom as part of your craft brewery? Be sure you know the ins and outs of taproom law in your area before you start to sample those delicious brews.
While taprooms are a great way to increase exposure, interest and yes – sell a few more pints – it’s important to be careful when going about this new venture. Laws governing alcohol consumption and sales are tough, and consequences of not following things to the letter of the law include loosing your license, paying heavy fines and having your business shut down for good.
The first thing to do is involve your lawyer, or get one if you don’t already have one. Find out what the laws are in your area, fill out the required paperwork, and discover the major DONT’s involved. They may be less obvious then you think!
Once that part is done and you know you’ve got the law on your side you can begin impressing more people with your amazing concoctions.
