When it comes to going green, setting goals for your business can mean the difference between a successful transition and an unsuccessful one.
It’s important to institute an attitude of teamwork within the company. Do all you can to get people “on board” with the changes that are about to occur. Going green can mean some changes, and you don’t want people to be unhappy about potential extra effort or just having to do things differently. Remember the three R’s of reduce, reuse and recycle. We’re all familiar with these go-to green practices!
Once you’ve set the goal you can start by implementing other small changes also – turning off computer systems at night, upgrading light bulbs and going paperless are some simple and common options.
More long-term commitments include changing out your larger equipment for more energy efficient options, installing low-flow toilets, purchasing fuel efficient fleet vehicles, and adding a major innovation like a green roof to your building.
